Orange Election Supervisor Bill Cowles said that about a half dozen precincts were experiencing glitches due to the likely humid conditions from Tropical Storm Fay affecting the size of the ballot paper.

One voter called in earlier to say he spent two minutes trying to get his ballot into a reading device, and finally gave it up before putting it in a hand-count bin.

Cowles said that polling place reporting humidity-impacted ballots were being sent super-size sealed plastic bags to store the ballots in, along with moisture absorption packets to avoid any more ballot-sizing problems.

Cowles said that he called the problem in to Tallahassee election officials, who told him it was happening around other parts of the state where Fay wreaked havoc.
